Seals and mouldings for sub-sea communications
and oil and gas exploration and production

In the harshest of environments, DP Seals keeps sub-sea communications connected

Fibre-optic and hybrid signal and data cables are increasingly being used in sub-sea applications such as sonar, surveillance and real-time video systems, remotely operated vehicles and down-hole data logging equipment, as well as classic telecommunications networks.

Developing components for demanding sub-sea applications requires knowledge both of materials and environment. Starting with material blend selection through tool development and prototype mouldings to volume delivery, DP Seals works closely with some of the world’s leading sub-sea component manufacturers to develop seals and moulding for telecommunications, oil and gas exploration, and oceanography applications, fully supported by a rigorous AS 9100 quality regimen which incorporates ISO 9001.

Global sub-sea component manufacturing companies such as D G O’Brien, Expro (Tronic) and SEACON (europe) rely on DP Seals’ knowledge and engineering experience to develop mouldings that make their cable connectors work. Their wet-mate or dry-mate signal, data and power connectors depend on DP Seals’ rubber seals and mouldings where environments absolutely cannot mix.

Find out more about how DP Seals has worked with these companies to develop solutions for these world-beating applications.

Materials technology

As well as salt water, sub-sea connectors must deal with high pressures, low temperatures, oil and gas. Material selection is key to long-term performance. From nitriles, neoprenes and silicones through high-performance Viton Extreme and FFKM to cutting edge polymers like silicone perfluoroelastomers and nanotech rubbers, DP Seals uses its 30-year experience in rubber chemistry to work with compounders to develop the right blend for the application.

DP Seals' extensive CAD/CAM integration builds a direct, high-efficiency link from engineer's desktop to in-house tool room, eliminating errors and ensuring prototype tooling in optimum time without compromising precision or quality. The company's use of 3D printing of prototype seals and mouldings further aids in keeping clients' development processes on time - and budget.

Tool production requires more than equipment: it requires knowing how materials behave in manufacture and how to section a tool to ensure a reliable end product. DP Seals has some 30 years experience in designing custom rubber moulding tools, including in-tool rubber to metal bonding.

Find out more about how DP Seals brings materials, engineering, tooling, production and quality together in perfect harmony to deliver precision solutions.

DP Seals’ custom rubber mouldings are recognised for going beyond outstanding performance to ensure safety, security and integrity. Involvement at the earliest stage means DP Seals can add real value to your sub-sea product development, advising on materials, tooling and performance to help ensure your products meet your expectations.

Whether it's a simple o-ring, a signal connector for an ROV or cable glands for a fibre-optic cable network, make DP Seals part of your development team and gain that all-important competitive edge.
