3D Prototyping

The availability of rubber-like materials for 3D printing has allowed DP Seal to add this valiuable new process to its prototyping capabilities, helping clients to further shorten development times.

Whether for prototyping or mass production, tool production requires more than equipment; it requires knowing how to section a tool and how materials behave under pressure to ensure a highly reliable end product.

In-house tooling

Milling machine in DP Seals toolroomThe busy in-house tool room benefits from the latest technology: state-of-the-art vertical machining centres (VMC) and advanced CNC lathes augment existing all-CNC VMCs, lathes and mills and advanced spark erosion and wire cutting capabilities.

 

Production

Tool and material meet on the shop floor. Characterised by low set-up times with high accuracy and repeatability, DP Seals' transfer moulding capabilities are ideal for short prototype runs and for volume production across a wide range of polymers.

Part of DP Seals' production shop floorThe two biggest presses take significantly larger tooling, allowing manufacture of larger, more complex mouldings as well as increased batch sizes for high volume components.This flexibility allows integration with customer's Kanban and JIT-enabled processes.

Cleaning

DP Seals pioneered cryogenic de-flashing and now has two of the most advanced of their kind in the world. Cryogenic de-flashing has made the essential cleaning process faster, more efficient and more effective than ever. This is one of several product-specific cleaning systems installed at DP Seals to ensure all output is free from flashing and defects.

Quality control

DP Seals' TQM approach to quality control - built on its demanding AS 9100 accreditation - is second to none and strictly enforced and monitored by the dedicated inspection unit; the company was also one of the first custom rubber moulding companies in the UK to achieve ISO 9001 accreditation.
